Vikramaditya Varaguna

Vikramaditya Varaguna (885–925) was a king of Ay rulers in South India kerala. He was known as ''Ashokan in Kerala''. Paliyam Copper Plate (925 AD) was written in the period of varaguna .Varaguna mentions about the Ay rulers. The Cheras further provoked the Cholas by granting political asylum the defeated Pandya ruler Maravarman Rajasimha II. Along with the Cheras, the Ays under King Vikramaditya Varaguna (885–925) also seems to have helped the Pandyas in their fight against the Cholas. The Bhagavati temple was added during the early medieval period. The inscription on the southern side is written in Vatteluthu characters and in Tamil language. It belongs to the 28 th year of the reign of the Vikramaditya Varaguna Pandya.〔http://www.asithrissurcircle.in/monuments_tamil.html〕
